BMW has been providing MotoGP with safety cars for nearly two decades, and the latest to join the fleet is the new M5, the very first M-car that's not an xDrive with an SUV. It made its debut during the MotoGP season finale in Valencia, Spain a few weeks ago at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, where Tim Burton alias Shmee150 had the opportunity to spin it for a round and show off the many M Performance trinkets.

Aside from the M8 GTE-inspired livery, the high-performance sedan has a wealth of carbon-fiber additions, including a front-end palette designed exclusively for this MotoGP version. It's the same story with the hood locks and LED lights installed on the roof and front bumper.

Speaking of the lights, the interior has been slightly modified to accommodate a few red switches to control the extra lights. The front seats of the M5 have been replaced to make room for the bucket seats that come from the limited edition M4 GTS

The M Performance Goodies suit was originally shown at SEMA in Las Vegas installed on the M5 MotoGP Safety Car, including the upgraded sports exhaust system with titanium muffler and carbon fiber tips. If you want to go crazy with the options, you can even order a lightweight carbon fiber engine cover, which is also used for paddles, gearshift cover and steering wheel. If you are a big fan of carbon fiber, you can spend extra to have it on the key wallet. The subtleties are rounded off by carbon-ceramic brakes, coilovers, M-brand floor mats and even a door-mounted LED projector.

MotoGP fans will see this special version of the M5 throughout the entire 2018 season, which begins on March 18 with the Qatari Grand Prix. There will be three official pre-season tests by then, starting with Sepang in Malaysia on January 28, followed by the Chang International Circuit in Thailand on February 16 and the Losail International Circuit in Qatar on March 1.
